Cyber Space Paranoia

Prologue- Never reveal any personal info, or you will regret it.

 

Kimi Johnson was a 10 year old girl in 3rd grade. One day, after soccer, she decided to meet her friend Ashley on a cool new site called “Club Penguin”. Kimi pulled of her cleats and then typed in the web adress. Coolio, she thought to herself as she logged on. Kimi named her penguin Happy77, and went online to meet Ashley. But as she logged on, Kimi forgot something. Ashley had given her all the information she needed, except her penguin name. Kimi made her penguin ask “Where is Ashely?,” and waddled everywhere.

When Kimi arrived at Ski Village, a penguin named 1Dodo1 claimed to be Ashley. Kimi got all excited and typed in “Coolio! I can’t wait until our

sleep over tomorrow!”

1Dodo1 replied “My dad is driving me and he doesn’t know where you live. Could you hop on IM and tell your adress to me quickly?”

Kimi agreed for she had never met Ashley’s dad, only her mother, and went on IM.  Kimi told 1Dodo1 all the directions to her hometown, and lots of personal info about herself.

 

The next day when Kimi got to school she told Ashley how much fun she had on CP with her yesterday.

“That’s weird. I didn’t have time to go on Club Penguin yesterday,” Ashley said, and at that moment Kimi knew something was wrong.

As soon as she got home, Kimi checked her inbox. Sure enough, there was an E-mail from 1Dodo1. The E-mail contained a link, which Kimi clicked on. A website appeared with all of her personal information listed. And the worst part was- it was a website visited constantly by hackers.

Normally, if you had just given away your name it wouldn’t be as big a problem, but Kimi gave out every possible thing there was to know about herself. Secrets, locations, even favorite games were listed there. Kimi not only felt embarrassed but scared.

She checked her E-mail again, and a big scary message reading “I’m going to get you” popped up. By that time, Kimi was so scared that she felt as though she was going to have a heart attack. Her parents weren’t home from work yet, not until 7:30, which was 2 hours from now.

Quickly she called 9-1-1, and then raced under the bed. an hour later, to her horror, she heard the doorbell ring. It was still too early to be her parents, so who could it be?

The doorbell rang again, but she still didn’t answer it. Suddenly, the ringing stopped. Kimi waited….and waited….and waited….. and waited…. When finally, the window was forced open. From under her place beneath the bed, all she could see were two black shoes. The black shoes stepped closer…. and closer…..and closer…..and closer…..AND CLOSER…..AND CLOSER…..

AND WHAM!!!!!!

A thug wearing an hood grabbed Kimi by her shirt collar. He was accompanied by two other gangsters, each with a metal bat. The thug’s goons started searching the house, taking jewlery and cash. Kimi was pinned against the wall, too scared to move. The thug looked into her eyes, and wouldn’t stop glaring at her face. Kimi started sweating. The thug moved closer until he totally invaded her space. The thug reached for his hood, and started pulling it down……

“OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”, Kimi screamed. The thug’s face was completely gone. He had skin burnt off, a scar that ran down his neck. He had slits for eyes and a chunk of his nose was missing so that you could see the cartilage. He had no lips, his teeth were brown and dented. His breath smelled like rotten eggs.  The thug got so close to Kimi that she couldn’t stand it any longer. Kimi fainted, then the rest was black.

 

Kimi couldn’t remember anything after. The only thing she recalled was the faint sound of sirens. When the police had arrived nothing was missing. Nothing was wrong. They all thought Kimi was crazy and they told her “It was only a hallucination”, but Kimi wasn’t convinced.

Infact, that very night at Ashley’s house, she had the slightest feeling that someone-something was watching her….and it was. For the rest of her life Kimi lived in the shadows. Afraid for the longest time.

When she turned 28 years old  Happy77 became a Club Penguin moderator, enforcing that all penguins never give out personal information.  

 

But while she was having so much fun working at Club Penguin.com,  she didn’t notice a little penguin named Marz234 asking where his  friend Emma was, and a certain penguin named 1Dodo1 waddling towards him…..
